Mrs, Hash was shown a photogreph of Fred Barker and she
immedistely f@entified 1t as the Preddy mentioned above. No photograph of
“Doc” Barker, brother of Fred Barker was evailedle, but there is ao doubt
but that the “Doe* in question is “Doc* Barker and that the women in ques-
tion, known as "Mother" ia Kate Barker, who travela constently with her sons,
and with them very likely fe Alvin Karpis. Both Fred Berker ané divin Karpie
are wanted for murder at West Plains, Missouri. Mre. Nash said that later
she saw Fred Barker and his mother around Louie's Place, near Chicago; thet
on one occesion while at Louie's Place there was enother women hmoen as ;
Helen with Mrs. Barker, and that she assisted these two women in obtaining
epertments at the Home Apartment Building in Gak Park, where they both lived
for same time, Thia, she believes, was in the late winter or early Spring
Of 1922. She said, however, that these wonen, she believes, vacated the
epartments in the Home Apartment Building end moved to a more desireble apart-
ment building in tho same locality. She does not know under what names they
lived, dbut she is of the opinion that one of them used the name of Ferguson.
It is observed from the Kanaae City File in the case of Helding
and Keating and Neab, Escaped Federal Prisoners, that in Eansea City Mra.
Barker, who was living with her sons and Alvin Xarpis, ueed the name of Kate
Bunter. She ia of the opinion that the Barkers, with their mother, are
etill living in Oak Park, Illinois.
Mra. Nesh stated thet while in St. Paul, Minnesota on or about June
10, 1923, with Frank Nash, she and Frank spent the night at a residence
of some friends of Frank, but the address she does not remember,
but that thia friend who had thie house wae Fred Barker and that
"Doo* Barker was with bim and the woman's nate wie Paule. She was
shown photogrephs of Dorothy Courtney, alias Winnie Williams, the
woman of Bernard Phillips, aod she etated emphatically it was not
the worn with Fred Barker. She said that there waa e young
eollegiate appearing fellow at this house when she and Frenk were
there, but she could not positively identify a photogreph of alvin

She stated that at Loufe’s Place, near Chicego, on one occasion
she mt a man by the name of Dougherty who lives on a farm on the
Fox River, near McHenry, Illinois, and that she and Frank went
there and spent about a week in a cabine She said that Dougherty
and his wife appeared to be in destitute circunstances and that
she doesn't know whether he was an intimate friend of Frank or
whether he was endorsed as a safe individual for Frank to asao-
elate with by some one in Loule’s place. She stated that on
one cccasion she and Frank and Verne and Vi went to the home of
Rocco (Rockie) Stacey, a brother of Louis Stacey, in helrose Park,
Tllincis, and apent several days.
