This was necessary because Mr. OZANIC was momentarily
expecting orders from his Washington, D. C. headquarters which would assign
him to tho wost coast for an indefinite period. In event ho is subpoonaed
in this easc, Xr. OZANIC requested thet he be given advanced notice in that
he might be involved in negotiations on the “ost Coast which would require
notice before breaking them off, Mr. OZANIC is willing to testify, and he
will not mako a hostile witness. He is definite and strceightforward in his
stitcments, intelligent and presents a good appearance, From the manner in
which he gevo his informtion and answered qvestions concerning his
participation in the attempts to negotiate with CARL ELSHOFF and other
represontatives of tfinc"B", it is believed that he will not bo easily
confused by aggressive cross-examinetion,
with reference to lr, OZANICts statement, particular reference
is made to the tclegram datcd August 20, 1937, and the letter dated
January 17, 1938. Copies of these documents wore found in the papers and
files of the Progrossive Mint Workers of Amcrica furnished this office by

Thore was no indication that this telogram was ever answered in
the files. The filcs also disclosed that Mr. OZANIC followod this
telegram with a five-page letter to Mr, ELSHOFF dated August 28, 1957,
which is go portinent to the issucs at that time that it is believed
advisable to set the letter forth in full:
