"It was aleo common knowledge that certain members of
Local Union #54, P. M. of A. were collaborating with the U. M. 7. of A.
officiile for the purpose cf ovorthrowing tho local wnion, and they were
being paid » certain sum of moncy for their traitorous work. MNoedless to
sey, 12 cf these men who wero charged anc found guilty of conspiracy in
tho organization were susnended from memborship. Thesc men accepted the
penalty, acknowledging their guilt, for they have never to this day availed
themselves to their right of appeol to the high courts of the organisation,
claiming an injustice was done then,
“On May 12th. last, your enploycos of ‘fing _"B" were thrown idle
by. virtue of a lockrut, due to your stubborn refusal to comply with the
terms of the contract to which your coal ecmpany is signed, and which
provides that members of the Progrcssive Xiners of Amorion be employed.

own choice, without coercion or intimidation by tho employer and the right
to bargain eclleectively through their chosen repreaentatives, You have in
your possession an orizinal petition bearing tho signatures of 412 of your
employees out, of a total of 445 who were employed on May 12th, 1957, the
last day your mine operated. By a simple process of mathomatics, 412
sienatures for our organization out of a total of 445 means thet approximately
98, of your employces boar truco allogiancs to the Progressive Niners of
Amcrica and they insist upon their right to thoir jobs at your mine, and
that you r:scognize thom 28 mombers of the Progressive Miners of America,
and that tacy continue in your employment undor a Progressivo Hiners*
contract the same es they havo the past sevcral years,
"Notwithstandine the above facts, you nor anyone olso can deny
you cithur signed, attempted or intend to sign a contract with the United
Hine werkers. You no doubt know full woll that your attempts along these
lines avc wholly un-Amorican and ore in oveory respoct open, flagrant viola-
