New York Yankees Basebali Club, 745 Fifth Avenue, New York City.
New York, appeared at the Cleveland Field Orfice and stated that
MIckay mAnTle had received the following handwritten letter on
the previous day at the Cleveland Municipal Stadium:
"I had a son that was drafted with a bad leg &
bad eyes he got killed but a rotten draft dodger that
could run like you gets turned down. I have a gun xith
micrscopic lenses and I'm going to get you thru both of.
your knees and its going to happen soon.
furnished the letter and envelope to SA
He stated that he had no suspects in this
matter, but he did state that MAnrie was upset about the letter,
and that a mmber of the men on the baseball club had handled
the letter and envelope.
stated that he desired that no publicity.
be given thts letter as he feared that if it should receive
publicity a rash of other letters would be received by the
Yankee players.
