MEMORANDUM FOR THE DIRECTOR
Supervisor R. H. Haynes advised me this afternoon
had inquired ofahim if the FBi was conducting any investigation
National Security Affairs. Miss Brown advised that over 1
past weekend, Dr. Kissinger was at a social function with
Mr. Melvin Laird, Secretary of Defense, and Laird told
Kissinger that The White House had called for Kissinger's
"security jacket" from the Defense Department. This concerned
Dr. Kissinger and he discussed it with Mr. H. R. Haldeman,
Assistant to the President. The purpose of The White House
check with.the FBI was on the remote possibility that we were
bringing up to date the Special Inquiry investigation of
Dr. Kissinger.
After making appropriate checks, Haynes advised
Miss Brown that the FBI is making no inquiries concerning
Dr. Kissinger. I thought you might be interested in this.
Respectfully,
E. S. Miller
