TOM HAYDEN: Works in a group based in Los Angeles, chapters in 25 states, called Indochina Peace Campaign. Purpose is to keep the issue of the current war in Cambodia before the people and to impress on @ongress the need to cut aid for prolonging the war that goes on in South Vietnam and Cambodia. CAVETT: Why aren't. the old tactics being used now? TOM HAYDEN: Replied that the situation today is different, the last time they were in congress together was when they weré called before the HCUA, they had a confrontation with that committee which weakened the committee and because of them this committee changed its name; now he can teach a Class with some congressional aids in a sub-committee room in the House of Representatives. The movement of the 1960's caused the election of people who they feel now represent the principles of peace and democracy. A dy-product of the demonstrat of the 1960's and the Civil Rights Movement was a changed atmosphe in the country which permitted the election of desireable people.
