grabbing it by the barrel. MUHAMMAD stated the weapon had a magazine inside the magazine well.
MUHAMMAD pulled the bolt back on the AR-15 and a round ejected and fell to the ground.
MUHAMMAD stated he did not pick up the round. MUHAMMAD locked the bolt ofthe AR-15
and pulled the magazine out of the weapon and placed it on safe and then put the magazine back into
the weapon. The’magazine had rounds in it, but it was not full MUHIAMMAD stated he and
MALVO did not touch the rounds inside the magazine. MUHAMMAD stated MALVO took the
weapon and released the bolt while the magazine was in the weapon. MUEIAMMAD left the
magazine in the weapon since he said he had placed the weapon on safe, The weapon was placed on
the back seat of the car. The green cloth bag the AR-15 was found in was thrown away in a'trash can
near the car at the rest area, The bag contained two black boxes of ".338" ammunition. ,
initially said the boxes were made of plastic but then said the boxes were made of
cardboard with styrofoam inserts. recalls MALVO going to use the restroom after
handling the weapon. stated MALVO was not interested in the weapon.
remarked MALVO had no knowledge or fascination with weapons. MALVO was
interested in flying, not weapons. could not recall where they were when they found
the weapon other than being at a rest stop. MUHAMMAD recalled that he and MALVO had driven
about 30 minutes outside of Baltimore going North at 55 miles per hour. MALVO stated he drove
through toll booths while driving North, MUHAMMAD stated before leaving Baltimore, Maryland,
he was there earlier looking up schools in telephone books. stated after driving
North about 30 minutes, he turned around and drove South for 30 minutes until he stopped at the rest
area where MALVO found the AR-15. MALVO could not provide much detail about the rest area or
MUHAMMAD stated MALVO found it near a building.

MUBIAMMAD stated he did not fire the AR-15 that MALVO found and that MALVO did not fire
the AR-15 the he (MALVO) found.
MUHAMMAD stated he and MALVO went to a gun show in Tucson, Arizona but MALVO
was not interested in the guns, only the rocks that were at the gun show.
At approximately 1355 hours on 24 October 2002, MOHAMMAD was asked by MCP
Detectiv if he wanted to use the restroom or get some water, but he declined both. MCP
Detectiv d the -writer exited-the interview. room andtook MUHAMMAD across.the hall
to a more secure room while the interview was temporarily halted.
At approximately 1415 hours on 24 October 2002, MUHAMMAD was taken back into the
interview room and the interview continued. .
MUHAMMAD, when asked by the writer stated he was being 100 percent truthful. Pe

MUHAMMAD stated MALVO was always with him during their trip to Louisiana. V
initially stated he did not drive into Alabama, butJater stated he drove through the western portion of
Alabama but not through Montgomery, Alabama. stated he could not explain why
MALVO'S fingerprints were found on arf Armalite Catalog near the scene where two women were
shot in Montgomery, Alabama in September 2002.
At approximately 1435 hours on 24 October 2002, MUHAMMAD stated words to the effect
of, "Maybe I should see an attorney." The writer and MCP Detectiv continued to speak to
to fet him know this would be his last chance to speak to us regarding the events that
