Brooks. The program was devoted to a discussion of the
power wtelded by Negro voters. Wilkins pointed out that
Negroes may hold a balance of power in electing candidates.
Te deplored the lack of action on the part of either the

Republican or Democratic parties in obtaining full ctvil
rights for Negroes as called for by the Supreme Court.
Wilkins was asked whether he had nade a statenent attributed
to hin by the "Daily Worker" in which he allegedly stated,
"the communist party has a wholesome effect on Negroes."
Wilkins dented ever praising CP actions and stated he did
not recall making such a statement. He aaid he had been
under fire from the CP for certain statements and added that
he was never a sponsor or member of any group associated
with the CP.
