/__ Ss _ During the interview Informant A laughingly remarked that the Government-should have watched the place in Memphis, Tennessee, where LouConner(Subject Louise’ Conner) Was apprehended, intimating that Galatas had been in touch with someone there. He asserted that the gangsters have a meéting | place within five miles of Memphis, Tennesaee, where crooks from all over the country gather. He described the place as a night club or road house, and aaid he believed it was operated by an individual named Miller, but that he was not sure of the name, He intimated that it isa well known to Chief of Detectives WilWGriffin of Memphis, Tennessee, but the informant amiled at the ‘thought of Griffin giving any information relative thereto, With reference to the probability of Galatas having been in contact with Mrs. Conner at Memphis, that has been quite well investigated, and that wae no indication that Galatas was in communication with her or present during several days causal surveillance, which was mainatined at Memphia upon the request of thie office before she was apprehended during the last month. However, it will be borne in mind that a Mrs ¥g Mahoney of Memphis, Tennessee, who is related to one of the ‘police detectives at Memphis, who works for Detective Grif- fin, owns the)tonely Acres Supper Club, which was operated by Mre. Oonner. While Special agent W. ¥. Trainor of this office was at Memphia about November 16tb, he was informed by U. S. attorney Mc Clanahan there, that Mra. Mahoney is a cone sort of criminals and bas been so associated for a number of years. Mrs.Mahoney ia said to be married to an ex-policemen named Pearl and her real name is, therefore, not Mahoney, but freer, altho she ia generally known as Mra. Mahoney. Agent dn- ersen will be in Memphic, Tennessee, performing certain in- quiries within the next few days, and he will, of course, bear ths purticuler angle in mind. , Informant A Bas questioned regarding the autonobiles of Galatas, and he said that the Ford Coupe had been in storage at Hot Springs until he turned it back to the Hamp-Williams Company of Hot Springs, from whom it has been purchased. He first said that he had turned the Cadillac
