He es- — caped from the United States Penitentiary Reservation, Leavenworth, Eansas, . y. 7. MORRISON, Deputy Warden, United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth, Kanses, — oan testify to the escape of Nash, the prisoner having eaceped from the resieg ence of Mr. Morrison where Nash ms essigned to duty. Mre Morrison will aleo —_ produce end identify a certified record of the conviction of Nash together with the original commitment, which is on file at the Penitentiarye , 4n extended search for Nash wa conducted by the United Stetes Bureau of Investigation over a period of wany months, an4 on June 16, 193s, about 11:55 A.M. he was apprehended at the White Front Cigar Store and Pool Hall, which waa operated by Richard Tallman Galatea at Hot Springs, Arkansas, by Special Agents F. J. lackey and Frank Smith, of the United States — Bureau of Investigation, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, assisted by Chief of Police Otto Reed from McAlester, Cclahoma. The Agents end Mr, Reed arrested Nash due to their knowledge of his identity es an Escaped Federal Prisoner, as ebove outlined. Inmee diately upon apprehending Nash the Agente ani Mr. Reed drove with the prisoner in an automobile eat a rapid speed (about ¥O miles per hour), proceeding from Hot Springs, Arkansas, toward Littie Rock, Arkansas. They were stopped at Benton, Arkansas, while enroute, by three nen with rifles, who had received telephonic information from the Hot Springs, Arkansas, Police Department that @ man With a black mustache (Mach) had been kidnapped at Hot Springs. The —— identity of the Agents was established and they proceeded with the prisoner - to Little Rock, Arkansase . . At Little Rock, Arkansas, thoy arrived 55 minutes after leaving Hot Springs, Arkansas, and at Little Rock they were again stopped by police in two police cars bearing riot guns. Little Rock Police had also received telephonic advice from the Hot Springe Police Department that Nash had deen kidnapped. Identity of the Agents was again established and they proceeded. . fe
