In 1942 all of the resources of labor and of the country will be dirceted to the defeat of the Axis and the destruction of Fascigm. The enerzies of Uighlander will be seared into that great effort. A proposal that the resources of Iishlander be usod as a deo fense training center for union leaders received the endorsement of tho Tennessee State Industrial Union Council's executive board on January 4, 1942. It is uxpoctod to be approved by AFofL and Railroad Brothcrhood unions. If approved by Washington, this pro- cram will receive 4 imjor emphtsis in 1042. Hizhiander stands ready to be of service with an expanded plant and orogram. The report for 1941 which we prosent herewith is the best record of achievement in our history. It shows that from April to October there was a continuous sucecssion of resi- dent torms and conferenccs, with an onrollment as follows: Spring Term, 2 weeks, 28; Sumacr Term, 6 wocks, 16; Weckond Confurcncos, 156; Writerst Workshop, 2 wocks, 12; Work Camp, 4 wovks, 173 Tanior Union Camp, 2 wovks, 25; total 252. A notablc accomplishment was the extension work dono by Liss Mary Lawrance in New Orlcans, and by Lr.
