letters she stated, "It makes me proud to heave as a friend
such a true soldier in the cause of Loyalist Spain." The
"Daily Worker" issue dated February 15,. 1939, reported that
Helen Keller would speak at a@ memorial meeting to be held
under the auspicos of the Fricnds of the Abraham Lincoli
Brigade. The Friends of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade was
preferred to a5 a commumist-front organization by the Special

. A letternead of the United American Spanish Aid
Cormittoe made available to this Buroau in July, 190,
carried the nome of Helen Kellor as a sponsor. The United
American Spanish Aid Committee was cited as a comnunist
organization by the Attorney General. 61-7561-555X
{here appeared in the "new York Times" issue of
February 8, 1941, a7 article "Miss Keller Quits Rescue Ship
Drive." The article stated that Heler Keller, on February 7,
1941, announced that she had resigned as Honorary National
Chairman of the American Rescue Ship Mission. The article
{ndicated that Niss Keller hed bec:: {:vestigating the evidonce
that sho hed been used as & front for controlling figures more
fntcreated in Communism than in the avowed purpose of the Shit +
Mission to Rescue Spanish Republicen Refugees from France.
It is set forth in the article that Mies Keller made efforts to
satisfy herself concerning the Spanish Rescue Mission and that
she thoreafter resigned. The American Rescue Ship Mission
was cited by the Attorney Gereral as an organization within the
purview of Executive Order 10450. 100-7061-A New York Times
2-6-ln. It was reported that Helen Koller sent & coipratulatery
telegram to a dinner at the Hotel Corasodore, ew Yor City,
celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Red Army, which dinner
was hold on February 22, 1943. 61-7374-53
The "Daily Worker" issue dated September 29, 1943,
roported that Helen Keller was a sponsor of a dinner which was
held at the Hotel New Yorker, New York City, under tno euspices
of the Congress of American=Soviet Friendship. The Congress
of Anericen-Soviet Friendship was cited as a communist frent
by the Speciel Committee on Un-Americen Activitics.
