Congressman J. Farnell Thomas called to advise
that Eisler was under subpoena to:appear before the Com= = =i:, i,
mittee on June 16th, that the hearing had to be postponed AP"
because he was tied up on the court cases, that he has now
dearned that Eisler has made application for an erit perm
and upon receiving this information he tried to serve an
addittonal subpoena in Los Angeles but the U.S. Marshal cou
not locate him. They have been checking in Washington with
the thought that he might be attending his brother! 8s trial
but have not been able to find hin.
He thought we might have some line on Eisler or
possibly might be able to locate Lisler and then notify him
So he could have a subpoena served on Fisler. I told him we
would check to see if we had q line and in addition I felt
certain the Director would want to put out a line to see if
he could be located. He satdhe would be deeply appreciative
if this could be done and would consider it a@ special favor
as he does not want to see Eisler get out of the country
without appearing before the Comnittee.
