D.C. 20835 September 23, 1974 - a HEARNAP The Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) came to our attention when they claimed credit for the killing of black OaklanG Schooi Superintendent Marcus Foster on November 6, i973. On January 10, 1874, Joseph Remiro and Russell Little were “arrested in Concord, California, following a shooting in the vicinity of a house believed to be occupied by Nancy Ling Perry, Russel] Little, and at times, Donald David DeFreeze. Little and Remiro have since been charged with the Foster shooting. At approximately 9:30 p.m., on Pebruary 4, 1974, Patricia Campbell Hearst, daughter of Randolph Hearst, was kid- naped from an apartment at 2603 Benvenue in Berkeley, which ~ she shared with her fiancee, Steven Weed. Sne was kidnaped by’ two males, at Jeast one of which was black and a white female. These individuais were armed with automatic weanons and@ in the getaway, shots were fired from these weapons. The SLA on February 7, 1974, in a letter to a radio station in Berkeley, claimed credit for the kidnaping of Patrica Hearst. In the following weeks, the SLA communicateé with the public and the victim's parents by letters and/or cassettes ane made a demand for a masSive food give-away program. In tapes received February 16, February 20, March 10, and April 3, 1974, the voice of Patricia Hearst was heard on the tapes. In the April 3, 1974, tape, Patricia Hearst indicated that she had the option of being released or joining fer ceptors, .and she elected to join her captors.
