WEED was advised of the identities of the interviewing Agents as Special Agents of the FBI, as well as the nature of the interview. — Thereafter and promptly following this, WEED . was interviewed and provided the following voluntary information: . | j . WEED stated that he and his fiancee, PATRICIA HEARST, were in his apartment at approximately 9:00 p.m. February 4, 1974, when someone knocked on the door of his © apartment. WEED did not open the door and could not recall whether or not HEARST opened it. As the door opened, he heard a white female state something to the effect, "I need some help", and she indicated @ sense of urgency, although WEED is uncertain whether it was just car trouble, or if in fact it had been a car accident. WEED then observed a young white female inside of his apartment, and this unidentified femaie was followed immediately by an unidentified Negro male who was carrying what appeared to be a rifle. WEED likened this rifle to a deer rifle, which he stated he has observed on several occasions. WEED observed only the wooden stock and did not see any attachments to this rifle such as @ sling or a scope. WEED stated that this rifle appeared to be somewhat shorter than a deer rifle. He - could not describe the rifle any further. Immediately behind this first unidentified black male was a second person whom he did not see but only caught a peripheral giance at before he was knocked to the floor by the - first, black male. ‘ a After being knocked to the floor by the first unidentified Negro male, WEED was instructed to keep his —. face down and not move.
