WEED stated he jumped to his feet, how exactly he does not recall as his hands were tied, and began running around the living room screaming and yelling like a wild man in an attempt to attract someone's attention. He then proceeded towards the back sliding glass door, which was . double latched, and while doing so, managed to loosen his ‘hands, opened the door and ran out into'the back. Sometime during the period while WEED was running and screaming around the apartment, but before he left through the back sliding glass door, the three unknown individuals were observed taking HEARST out of the front door of his apartment. WEED then ran out the back door, being extremely shaken and groggy from the beating and kicking he received, and proceeded to climb several fences as rapidly as he could as he feared that he was being followed. After climbing these fences, WEED went through several backyards and on to Parker Street. It was at this time he noticed that a Berkeley Police Department car was arriving in the area. WEED recalled that several neighbors attempted to get him to lie down; however, one of these unidentified neighbors helped him back to his apartment where he related to the Berkeley Police Officers, who were already present in his apartnent, what had taken place. | WEED, in recalling certain particular moments during the assault which took place in his apartment, stated he thought he had observed two rifles. He could not recall anything further concerning weapons. He stated that the general atmosphere of the assault was one of a commando-type ‘action, well planned, deliberate, disciplined, with no second thoughts. WEED stated that the first unidentified Negro male was from the outset.one with whom you would not ask for sympathy, nor one with whom a person would attempt . to reason. WEED stated that this Negro male was a . ‘confident, self-assured, possibly angry person.
