At approximately 9:30 p.m. on 2/4/74, the victim, PATRICIA:
CAMPBELL HEARST, daughter of RANDOLPH HEARST, was abducted- —
by two Negro males and a white female from Apartment 4,
2603 Benvenue in Berkeley. Her. fiance, ‘STEVEN ANDREW
WEED{, was approached by a Negro male holding a rifle and
. a white female. 4WEED-was tied up and beaten about the Gy
sd head and face. A neighbor ,; STEVEN SUENAGK, was also tied
- up and beaten. The victim was placed in the trunk of a
1963 white Chevrolet convertible owned by! PE TER BENENSON
who had been approached by two white females at his home
and at gun point had his car taken. “He-was tied up, gagged,
and blindfolded, and placed on the rear of the car floor
seat. During the getaway from the Benvenue address, a
white 1963 or 1964 Chevrolet station wagon was observed and
a number of shots were fired, possibly from the station
‘wagon, BENENSOY's c was abandoned on Tanglewood Drive,
Berkeley, with BENEN: in it. The Symbionese Liberation
‘Army (SLA) sent a letter, designated as Communique #3, to
KPFA Radio Station, Berkeley, California, claiming they
were holding the victim. In addition to the letter, a
Mobil credit card in the name of RANDOLPH HEARST was re-
