* There were 16,062 enemy aliens arrested’ during World War Uf. Of this number, 7,043 were German aliens. among whom 1,225 were interned: 2,449 were paroled; 2,589 were released; 691 were repatriated; and 47 diced. Dispositions were unresolved in 42 of the cases. The Japanese aliens art rested totaled 5,428, Of these, 1,532 were interned; 2,423 were paroled; 955 were released; 415 were repatriated, and &8 died. In 15 of these cases the dispositions were unresolved. The number of Italian alicns arrested was 3,567. Of this number, 367 were interned; 861 were paroled, 2,237 were re- leased; 87 were repatriated; and t4 died. There was one case in which the disposition was unresolved. These figures include 802 German scamen and 1,271 lialian seamen who were apprehended before the United States en- tered the war. In addition, 24 Hungarian, Bulgarian and Rumanian alien encmies were apprehended. Of these, 8 were paroled and 15 were released. The disposition in one case was unresolved.
