Senator McCaRThy closed his testimony of Professor SCHuAn by stating that the most casual survey indicates that SCHumAn is not a card-hoiding member of the Communist Party, but the difference is so slight that it makes no difference. Senator AcCaRrhy then advised the Cawnittee that he was not going to present any additional cases for the day and then submitted to the Chairman a list of 25 names which requires furthar investigation. He advised that all the individuals are either in the state Department or in closely related agencies and all have beer irvestigated by the Federal Bureau of Inveatigation; that such in- vestigation disclosed infarmation which, according to ACHEson'S being bad security risks. He further stated that none of the names covered cases which he originally presented on the Senate floar. There is enclosed herewith the text of the statement to the Coumittee by Senator MccaRrhy concerning the 25 names furnished.
