Eighth Precinct Captain JOHN O CONNELL. said two
more men were required to help with the cabbie's problem and
routinely CuLvER's belt was taken off and all personal effects
were removed from his pockets. CuLveR's name and address
was inscribed in the arrest book twice. When the police
learned he was a Congressman they asked cuLveR why he did
not tell them he was a Congressman and he replied, "you
didn't ask me." CuLveR was provided transportation to his
home by the Police Department. The article indicated that
CULveR had practiced law in Cedar Rapids, Jowa, and later
KENNEDy. The article indicated that CULVER had played
Chicago Bears but had not played any professional football.
