According to the news item, Representative John C.
Culver, aged 32, Demoerat of Iowa, called reporters to his
office and explained that on the prior Friday night with several
constituents he went to several places, had drinks and fell asleep
while en route to his Chevy Chase home.
The eab driver, not being able to find the address and not
being able to arouse the fare, drove to Precinet Number Eight.
The desk clerk and four precinct detectives pulled him from the
cab. Awakening, he felt he was being attacked by a man in civilian
clothes. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
When they found who he was and heard his explanation,
Captain O'Connell of the Eighth Precinct drew a single line through
the entry on the arrest book. Representative Culver picked up a

Representative Culver, his wife and children presently
reside at 48i9 Dorset Avenue, Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Information has been received from the Metropolitan
Police Department and the United States Park Police, both
Washington, D. C., and the Montgomery County, Maryland,
Police Department indieating that their files contain no infor-
mation concerning Representative Culver.
The central files of the FBl, including the files of the
Identification Division, contain no additional pertinent information
concerning Representative Culver.
No investigation of Representative Culver has been
conducted by the FBI, and the above background information has
been obtained from public source records.
