(cooperation and assistance by these men.. Subsequently, Special Agents Kelliher, and McCardie all appeared in the Superior Court of Los Angeles and testified. Their testimony was given in the finest manner, Acompletely accurate and forthright, and they displayed an amaz- ing ability to narrate times and details and conveyed to the jury a picture of the very finest kind of treatment which was accorded the defendant while in the custody of Federal agents. The defendant, by way of a desperate attempt to escape his Ijust punishment, saw fit to make very vicious and scurrilous attacks upon the agents.' These attacks and allegations were com- lpleteiy disproved." The jury completely rejected all.of. the defendant's testimony concerning the allegations against the agents. The trial judge expressed a. complete disbelief of. any [derogatory allegations leveled at the agents, and the ultimate verdict in the case expressed a complete confidence in the integ- 'rity and honesty of the above-mentioned agents.
