ABBOTT HOWARD HOFFMAN
Reference is made to Chicago memorandum, March 15
1971, under Hoffman's caption, which reflected travel plans
for Hoffman to Par is, Frapce, for the period on or about
March 14-17, 1971. That memorandum reflected the approval
iF this travel schedule by the United States Court of Appeals
USCA), Seventh Circuit, Chicago, and the reason for the
necessity of USCA approval ot Hotfman'’s traves oursaue “fhe
continental United States.
Attached to this ucme.indum is a letter, self-.
explanatory, cated March 22, 1971, from Thomas M, Haney,
attorney for Hoffman, to the United States Marshal, Chicago,
which letter reflects Hoffman's deviation from his previous
travel, to include a visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland, A
copy of that letter was made available on March 23, 1971, » IC
Deputy United States Marshal Chicago.
Also attached is a copy of a so-called Emergency
Motion, filed with the USCA by Thomas Haney on Hoffman's be-
half, This motion, also self-explanatory, requests USCA

approval of Hoffman S travel to Belfast for the period
March 21-26, 1971, A copy of this motion was provided on
March 23, 1971, by Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA)
James Breen, Northern District of Illinois (NDI),
On March 24, 1971, Breen advised that late on
March 23, 1971, Chief Judge Luther Swygert, USCA, issued
an order which denied Hoffman's moticn requesting Court
approval of travel to Belfast in the period March 21-26,
