States Attorney's ffice, 2 and California, Chicago, advised *".‘that HOFFMAN had been originally convicted by Judge WENDT, in ae bench trial on January 28, 1969, in Mass Arrest Court, Chicago. “'+He was sentenced to one year probation on the charge of resisting . arrest, August 28, 1968 with the first fifteen days to be served .. . in Cook County Jail. He advised that this conviction had been upheld March 24, 1970 by the Illinois Supreme Court. The conviction - was then appealed to the United States Supreme Court, which on November 9, 1970 denied HOFFMAN a hearing on the conviction. On November 19, 1970, in Judge WENDT's court, counsel for HOFFMAN had moved for a new trial, however, that motion was denied by the court and the case was then continued to December 3, 1970 at which time HOFFMAN was ordered to appear to commence serving ‘ the ‘fifteen day sentence imposed. dvised that the subject WENDT's court, had been taken into custody by Cook County Authcrities, and had subsequently been incarcerated at Cook County Jail, Chicago. An SA of the FBI observed the subject's appearance in Municipal Court, December 3, 1970. There were no incidents surrounding this appearance. In this connection, "Chicago Today" a daily “uhicago y newspaper, edition of December 3, 1970, contained an article entitled, "Abbie Put in Jail Here."
