Prison officials said this follows normal proce- dure when an inmate is reclassified. A unit committee made up of officials in the block in which the “inmate has been held (medium security in Bundy’s case), reviews the reasons for possible reclassification. If maximum security is recom- mended, the executive committee makes the final decision. The reclassification stems from apparent escape materials, including forged identification and notes on airline schedules, found among Bundy’s posses- sion Oct. 19. He has already served 15 days in isolation for the infraction. Bundy, serving 1-15 years on his conviction for aggravated kidnaping in the abduction of a 17-year- old girl from a Salt Lake County shopping center, has been named in connection with the 1975 death of Caryn Campbell, a young nurse from Dearborn, Mich., who was found dead near Aspen, Colo. ’ Cotorado authorities have instituted extradition proceedings against Bundy. .
