’ Utah investigators have been concen-
trating - on the murders of Melissa
‘Smith, Midvale, and Laura Aime,
American Fork. Debra Kent, Bountiful,
reported missing the same night as the
kidnaping in Murray, has not been
found. .
' Mr. .Yocom said he believes the next
step after the arraignment will be the
filing of a governor’s warrant from
Colorado for extradition to that state.
Signed Credit Card Slips
. If Bundy decides to fight the extradi-
tion, the process could take some time,
Mr. Yocom said. .
_ Although Pitkin County officials were
reluctant to talk of any new evidence,
they had said earlier that credit card
slips were signed by Bundy in Aspen on
Jan. 12, 1974, the same day Miss
Campbell disappeared. ,
He was also investigated, along with
. 2,800 other persons, in connection with |
“the .“Ted murders” of college-aged &
girls in Washington and Oregon. Offic-
ers say witnesses in some of these cases
said a person giving the name of “Ted” |
was seen with the girls shortly before
they disappeared. ,
- John D. O’Connell, Bundy’s attorney,
criticized the way the murder warrant
was served. He felt he should have been
told in advance and was in cqurt when
che learned of the warrant and had to
send Mr. Lubeck to the prison.
He accused the authorities of calling
. the, news media first and lawyers
second.
Three weeks ago Mr. Fisher said the
case against Bundy was largely cir-
cumstantial and Mr. Tucker said at
, that time he would not charge Bundy
unless he was sure of a conviction.
Bundy was a law student at the
University of Utah at the time of his
arrest. Before coming to Utah, he lived
in the campaign of Gov. Dan Evans.
