Memorandum to T. W. Leavitt
Re: SURREPTITIOUS ENTRIES
DETAILS CONTINUED:
With respect to Question 5, Category C, whether
or not the Bureau was conducting or contemplating conducting
an internal investigation of the surreptitious entry question,
particularly two entries in 1972, and two entries in 1973,
contact with Mr. Pottinger's office by our office of the
Deputy Associate Director (Investigation) on 4/22/76 resulted
in the determination that Mr. Pottinger's assistants would
conduct first review of these matters at New York.
Mr. Gardner advised he would like to begin his
review at New York on Monday, 4/26/76. He will be accompanied
by Departmental Attorney Steven Horn, Civil Rights Division,
who will assist in the review.
