Bureau memo dated 4/27/67 concerned Martin Luther King and Stanley David Levison. King had been under active and tight control of - the communists with Levison, a lawyer in New York and secret member of the CP, writing King's speeches and statements made to the public. They met at the inn at the Kennedy Airport® and generally went over matters and various decisions as to what King was to do and say at various places. Levison was a smooth, clever manipulator behind King in his activities. 105-138315-5823 p.2 (207 , * nyc ba 676 sw eamaem e former, advised that on 5/11/67 Stanley Levison | and Andr oung, Executive Assistant to Martin Luther King, were in contact (locality not given). Young disclosed that Cora Weiss contacted nim and advised that the North Vietnamese representatives in Stockholn, Sweden, would like to meet with a group from the US peace movement on 5/15/67 in Paris, France. The North Vietnamese wanted an appraisal of the situation in the US. Levison did not have faith in Weies' judgment and felt she contrived the meeting. On 5/12/67 Levison, Young and King discussed the above meeting. Levison suggested that a group of responsible and reasonable people make an honest appraisal of the peace sentiment in this country and offer it to the North Vietnamese through an agency like the UN.
