RE: STANLEY DAVID LEVISON CON
(2) On 5/22/69 the coverage provided data
- Fegarding a contect between Levison and a member of a
drug and hospital employees wnion in New York City.
Levison, apparently in reference to the strike of hospital
workers in Charleston, South Carolina, expressed the opinion
that it was time for people to begin going to jail and to
institute a national boycott.
(3) On 6/13/69, the installation furnished information
Tegarding a discussion involving Levison in which mention was
made of the necessity of having the Federal Government sponsor
the proposed Martin Inther King Memorial Center. During the
discussion, mention was made of a letter to be sent to
President Nixon by King's widow pertaining to Government -..—— — .
support to this center and Levison indicated he was in favor
of sending the letter and moving the issue “into an arena
of struggle."
(4) On 6/25/69, the coverage furnished information
regarding a contact between Young and Levison during which
Young mentioned the possible filing of a suit enjoining the
FBI from wiretapping the Black Panther Party and several other
organizations.
This coverage has enabled us to keep abreast of
communist influence at work within the SCIC, We have kept
the White House, the Attorney General, and interested
officials of the Government advised of information being
developed from this coverage. Continuation of this
installation is most necessary, particularly in view of
the prominent role being p]ayed by the SCIC in racial activities
today. Data obtained is unavailable through other sources
including live informant coverage.
ACTION:
If approved, the attached memorandum will be direc
to the Attorney General seeking his authorization for a
continuation of the taehone surveillance on Levison's residence
for an additional three months. .
