an article by Frederick Woltman, which stated that ithe NAACP
had becone the "top priority target of CP strategy” and the
ultimate objective of the comnunista was to oust Roy Wilkine,
NAACP Acting Secretary, who was an outspoken. anti-Red. The
article further stated "Already the New York City branch of the
NAACP, which plays ball with the commies had called on the
directors to repudiate Mr, Wilkins."

an article entitled, "NAACP Backs Wilkins Under Fire by Reds.’
According to the article, a communist backed drive to oust Roy
Wilkins, Acting Secretary of the NAACP, was defeated at a
neeting of the Board of Directors of the NAACP. The Board, by
a vote of 14 to 3, voted its confidence in Wilkina’, who was
unier attack for his leadership in barring communi sts Jimonm the
NAACP's Civil Rights conference in Washington, D.C. in January,
1950.
