According to the nesyoaper article the stated aim of the committee was to stimulate public interest in the proposition that the eon- stitutional rights of the tyvelve Commmist defendants had been and were being violated. the li-=52 issue of the "Hartford Times", a daily newsneper in Hartford, Connecticut, reflected that the subject attended ——--. a party on 127-52 which was held at the Russian Embassy in Washington, 0.C. According to the newspaper article, the affair was given to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the October ISLY Socialist Revolution in Russia. The liel7e52 issue of the "Hartford Times" contained an artiale whieh reYlectec an interview with the subject after his concert which was held on the evening of 21-15-92 at Veaver High School Hartford, Comnectiount. In an emotional outburst following his concert ROBESON told the reporters it vas "Nobody's dann busi- ness vhether or not he wes a Communist". The subject alsa called the newsmen names beeause they asked "Don't you think you are hurting your cause by allying yourssif with Communism?* FOUEOCN stamped his foot in anger and stated "You ineffective so-called liberals think you know how te get things done, but you accomplish nothing. The subject esked the reporters if they wanted bim te bend and bow and shuffle along and be a nice, iindly colored man and say rlease when he asked for velter treatment for his people. Ne thundered "Well, it deoesntt work", as he drove his fist Inte histand, "that's what I de te. people whe get in my way. .
