in its issue for February §, 1952, reported that ROSSSON and HALLINEN
might later appear at a4 rally at the Internstional Peace Arch, Blaine,
| Washington in protest against the action of the U. S, Immigration and
Naturalization Service in barring their departure from the United States,
The same newspaper reported that although ROBESON was prevented From
attending the National Conference of the Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers
Union at Vancouver, 8. €. on February 1, 2952, he had addressed this
conference and sung to the conference by telephone from Seattle,
Washington.

reliability, has advised that TERY PETTUS was selected as
a member of the District Coamittees of the leth District
Communist Party at the District Party Convention held
at Seattle December 16, and 17, 1950. The same informant
also has reported that one of the Party leaders at. Seattle
on August 14, 195) had atated that TERAY PETTUS then
was the representative in Seattle of the District officials
of the Communist Party who had then gone underground; that
PETTUS was the medium through whom inastruchions of the
Party were to be transmitted to the lesser functionaries;
and thet PETTUS had, in fact, passed on certain instructions
ag to the future operationa ef the Party in the vicinity
of Seattle,
