ernest CON ATIAL "For years, the Communists have put forth the greatest efforts to capture the entire American Labor Party throughout New York State. They succeeded in capturing the Manhattan and brooklyn sections of the American Labor Party, but outside.of New York City they have been unable to Win control .* fhe "Daily Worker" issue of February 10, 1950, page 5, column i, " reported that the American Lebor Party would sponsor a "Rally for F.E.P.c.* at the Manhattan Center, 34 Street and Eighth Avenue, New York City. The article reflected that PAUL ROBESON would be one of the speakers at the meeting. It is to be noted that the "Daily Worker" and athe Yorker" ig 4 st RERSPEPETS - "The Worker" issue of February 12, 1950, section LY page 8, column 4, reported that the Progressive Party was making plans for the National Convention to be held in Chicago from February 24 te 26, 1950. This article reflected that PAUL ROBESON would “play @ leading part in the conven- tion." ~ oot ~ ‘ on ED conticentia sntornent il of know reliability, advised that the Progressive Party, at its Cnicago convention, Planned to set up a new draft program designed to show to the public that "the Progressive Party is not a radical party, and not connected with the Communist Party." According to the Informant, the new plan of the Progressive Party would be made public at the convention. Informant reported that the program of the Progressive Party would deal with the following: By. Communists would be wellcoae as active members in the Progressive Party, but would not be # pernitted to hold positions of leadership. ‘
