Records of the Board of Elections, Borough of Manhattan, as checked on May 28, 1958, reflected no information concerning the appointee or her husband, at 1200 5th Avenue, New York, New York, for the years 1950 through 1957. — A number of confidential informants, who are familiar with certain phases of Communist Party activities in the New York area, were contacted during May, 1958. They can supply no information concerning appointee, as named in the title of this report, or concerning ORPHEUS HODGE FISHER. An article entitled "How It's Done" in the February 27, 1942 edition of "P.M.", a former New York daily newspaper, reflects that the Dies Committee lists the Marian Anderson Citizens Committee as a Communist . front group. The article went on to say that this Committee was formed in the Spring of 1939 after the Daughters of the American Revolution had denied Miss _ ANDERSON the right to appear in Constitution Hall in Washington. It related that the Committee sponsored her appearance at. whe Lincoln Memorial there.
