Zs your opiaioa, which are the perspectives ef the movenent for civil rights? Malcolm X. It has given everything which it cam give. It is at the end of the rope. Certain leaders of lecal sections of the civil rights movencnt. have stated that your support would be for then valuable one, and other leaders, on the national plane, have affirmed that they would aot accept any collaboration. What fe your view in reagpect to this poiat? Baicoim X. The local leaders find themselves ordinarily in close touch with every-day life, They see things much clearer, and they understand that the collaboration of the groups is necessary to solve the problem; on the other hand, most of the local leaders are enjoying a rather great independence, and they are in closer contact with the people. In contrast, the national leaders are separated from reality. They are generally permanent and professional ieaders. The iccal leaders must work and, therefore, know the real preblems well. The national leaders, I repeat, are the leaders working full time, aad the people, who pay their salaries, have, of course, a word to say in the matter. Gne mst not ferget that the people, who pay the professional biack leaders, are just white liberals, aad — the white liberals have not the slightest sympathy for anythiag that a certain XK recalls to sind.
