Sone NY 105-8999 The March 11, 1961, edition of the "New York Amsterdam News" contained an article which reflected that the United States Muslims sued two New York daily pewepaper®s "The World Telegram" and the "Journal American", for $6,000,000 in libel as a result of stories put out last February involving @ demonstration by Negroes at the United Nations Security Council hearings. ‘The suit was filed on behsif of ELIJAH MUHAMMAD, head of the NOI, and MALCOLM X, head of the New York City NOI Temple, III, MISCELIANEOUS The "New Jersey Herald News" in their February 25, 1961, edition, contained an article datelined Washington, D.C., which reflected that the Howard University student chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) had to withdraw an invitation to subject to speak on February 14, 1961, for their “Negro History Week" because his appearance had not been negistere in advance with the Student Activities Office, h 29, 1961, iV, eee rs Field Road, on, Ty station relative to the NOI views and beliefs on March 23, 1961, by a member of the WBZ TV staff.
