Temple Number
7 who
allegedly sold
narcotics,
MALCOLM stated
that he
was lucky
that
he was
caught by
the
Muslims instead
of the
law, because
the law
would "blow
this
up
and
use it against
Elijah Muhammad."
All or
the violators
were expelled
from the
Temple for
periods lasting
from 90
days to
5 years,
The December 3, 1960,
New Ybrk edition of
the
"Pittsburgh Courier",
a weekly
newspaper published
in Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania, contained
an article
which reflected
that the
NOI had filed
a $3,000,000
suit
for
libel
and
slander against
the Hearst
Newspapers Consolidated
charging a
misrepresenta-
tion in
an article
published
in the
September 25,
1960, edition
of the
"New York
Journal American"
of the
Hearst chain.
According to
this
article,
the article
involved contained
in-
accuracies and
misrepresented the
meeting between

Muslim Minister
MALCOLM X and
FIDEL CASTRO,

falsely charged
that
the
N01 was deeply involved
in some
international intrigue
with NASSER
or Egypt,
CASTRO of Cuba
and KHRUSHCHEV of Russia
in
a
plot to
win the
mind or
America's 20 million Negroes
and use
them in
winningtthe

allegiance of
the newly
independent African
nations.

News",
s weekly
newspaper
published
in New
York, New
Ybrk cotained
an article
in
their
city edition of February 25, 1951, which reflected that
subject vowed
to take
legal steps
against United
States
ambassador to
the United
Nations, ALEAI
STEVENSON and New
York Police Commissioner STEPHEN
P, KENNEDY,
for their

statements that
the disorder
at the
United Nations
in February,
1961, was caused by the NOI.
