National Student Mobilization Conmittee
h source advised on Moy 16, 1969, that the Student
Mobilization Committee originally grew out of the National
Student Strike for Peace conference held in Chicago, Illinoic,
on December 28-29, 1966, which resulted in a call for massive
antiwar domonstrat ions in New York City and San Frenciscoe,
Califoxynia, on April 15, 1967. ‘The Nationol Student Strike
for Peace was originally called by the Communist Porty.
Divisions arose betveen elenents of the Communist Party ami the
Socialist Worlzors Party (SVP), culminating in a take-over by
he SWP clement in tho Sumner of 1968 and the Comnunist Parcy

by the SWPP und its youth arm, Young Socsalist Alliance (NSA),

The SWP has been designated pursvunt to Exccutive
Order 10450.
A reporyt by the Comnittee on Un-Amorican Activities,
louse of Representatives, Ninetieth Congress, First Session,
dated March 32, 1967, entitled "Communist Origin and Manipulation
ef Victnam Week (April 8-15, 1967)" stated that the Student
Mobilization Comnittea and the Apr i111 5, 1967, antiwar
Gcmonstrations were communist dominated and inspired.
A second source on April 3, 1969, made available
a copy of “Phe Student Mobilizer" dated April. 5, 1969, which
was self-described as being published by the National Office
of the Student Mobilization Committee to End the War in
Vietnam, 57 Broadway, Room 307, New York, New York 10003.
In this issue the aims of the Student Mobilizetion Comnittee
were set forth as: Bring the Gis home from Vietnam now; end”
campus complicity with the war: and win Self-determination for
Vietnam and Black America.
