4 "The New York Vines" city edition, Tuesday,
April 20, 1965, page 27, reported that a new party of
"revolutionary socialism" was formally founded on Apri) 18
1965, under the name of the PLP which bad been knewn as the
: Progressive Labor Movement.
According to the article, "he Frogressive Labor
Movement was founded in 1252, by Milton Resen and MWortiner
Scheer after they wore expelled from the Communist Party
of the United States for assertcdly following the Chinese
Communist line."
A source advised on dunc 3, 1968, that the PLP
hold jts Second National Convention in New York City,
May 3i to June 2, 3968, at which time the PLP reasserted
its objective of the establishment of a militant working
class movenent based on Marxism-Leninism. This is to be
accenplished through the Party's over-all revolutionary
strategy of raising the consciousness of the pcople and
heiping to provide ideological Jenadership in the working
class strugele for state power.
‘fhe souree also advised that at the Second National
Convention Milten Rosen was unanimously re-elected National
Chadanan of the PLP and Levi Laub, Fred Jerome, -Jared Isracl,
William Epton, Jacob Rosen, Jeffrey Gordon, and Walter Linder
were elected as the National Comaiitee to lead the PLP until
the next convention.
The PLP publishes “Progressive Labor," a bimonthly
MALAL ING; “World Revolution," a quarterly periodical; and
“Challenge-Desafio," a monthly newspaper.
