requested on March 14th to outline the detaile of the transection which
took place between him and Miller when the Essex car was sold. He
stated that he received a telephone call from scmeons requesting him to
come to the Netherlands Hotel at 35th and Main Streets on the day he
sold that car; that he proceeded there, where he met Miller and enother
men, whose name he does not know. At that point he was asked how he
recoznized Miller, as he claimed he had not met him before, and Young
at that juncture helted, end admitted that he had been lying on pre-
vious occasions. He stated that he does not under any circumstances
desire to be quoted, especially if an interview is had with June-Kathr-
ens, proprietor of the-Kethrens Moving & Storaze Company; however, he
stated that June Kathrens catled him by telephone on the day he sold
the Esser car, requested him to cane to Kathrens’ office at 35th and
fain Streets, gna when he arrived there, he met Vernon C. Miller, who
used the elfas Carter, and that Miller had with him another man, whose
size was about the seme as that of Miller, and who was around 28 years
of ace, of a rather rough appearance. He stated thet Miller desired to
purchase an Essex car and seemed indifferent as to what color the car
might be or what would be the price of it. Young at that time proceeded
with Miller and bis companion in the Chevrolet Sedan in possession of
Miller to the Hudson-Brace Motor company, where the trade-in car was
appraised, and Miller {mediately selected the Essex Sedan, which wea
the firet one at which he looked. He informed Young at that time that
he 4/4 not cam thet solor the new car might be, except that he wished
a dark colored car. The sedan that was sold to him was a maroon color.
Miller and his companion drove away after a few minutes during which the
transaction wes closed, and later that afternoon delivered the Chevrolet
sedan xhich wie traded in and paid the remainder of the purchase price,
Miller was alone on the afternoon occasion when he returned and paid
for the Essex car and took the Essex car with him. A Missouri 1933
license tag was secured for Miller under the alias Carter by the Hudson-
Brace Kotor Company, when the car was purchesed, and the address of the
Kathrens Moving & Storage Compeny was given in the application for the
license. ;
Willer was explicit in stating to Young that he desired the Kansas
_ License Tags, which were on the Chevrolet car treded in, to be disrosed
of end not allowed to get into other henis, Therefore, Young took the
Karses License Tags end placed them in his own automobile and later,
_when be was connected with the Laupe Service Compeny at Kansas City,
Missouri, he hended them to one Milton’Hodge, who used them on 4
atolen Plycouth car. Incidertelly, Hodge wes arrested subsejuently
in possession of a stolen cer, which had been stolen at Kanses City,
