Sheriff Will c, Strange of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, stated that he has 4
record on Alvin Karpie and knows he is wanted by the Government as well as
the Sheriff et Westplains, Missouri for murder,
While Agent was talking to the Postmaster at Kiefer, Okiahoma, Sher-
Aff Strange visited a restaurant acrosa the street from the Post Office. 4
waitress at this restaurant told the Sheriff confidentially that Mrs. Alvin
Karpis visited her mother one day last week, but left.
Sheriff Strange made arrangements through his informant at Kiefer
to notify bim if Karpis comes to Mra. Richards‘ at Kiefer, Oklahome. . ~
The following investigation was conducted by Special agent J. J.
Perkins of the Oklahoma City office.

Harry Gideon, Night Officer, Maud, Oklahoma, stated that he haa
heard nothing further of "Pretty Boy* Floyd visiting the home of Frank Hali;
that E. H, Cook, who is a neighbor of Hall, had been confined in a hospital
with a sore leg and was unable to secure any informtion from Hall regarding
the location of Floyd. Mr. Gideon stated that he would keep in touch with
Mr, Cook and if anything of intereet was learned he would immediately get
in touch with the Oklahoma City office,
Records of the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at McAlester, Oklahoma,
@isclose that Ed Davis, #24253, waa received from Stephens County, Oklahoma
August 3, 1931 for murder, sentence - life; that he escaped on May 5, 1932.
; Greene McCurtein, Postmaster, State Penitentiary, McAlester, made —
a search of the records for the purpose of securing Davis' corréspondence re-
cord, but was unable to find same. He stated that when WilburWnderhill was
brought to the penitentiary he remembered giving the correspondence record of
Davis to J. W. Phillips, Agsistent Deputy Warden, who failed to return same to
him. He atated that Mr, Phillips was in Minnesota after e prisoner and upon
his return, he would secure the correspondence record of Davis and forward it
to the Oklahoma City office.

THE OKLAHOMA CITY OFFICE will follow out the leads as suggested in
reference report of agent Trainore
