Brady and Clark were apprehended about one ami a half
miles East of Tucumcari on Highway 66. Brady, in attempting to
escape, Was shot by Sheriff Allen with a 20 guage shot gin us-
4ng #2 shote Brady was hit by eleven shots in the right side of
the back over the liver and lungs. \When I left Sante Fe, Brady
was apparently on the road to recovery,
Agent Street and I endeavored to eecure some informa- |
tion from Brady about the Kansas City Massacre and the Urachel
Case, but he maintained that he knew nothing about either -
other than what be had read in the paperas
Brady said that on June 16, 1933, the dey before the
Kansas City Crime, he with Za%pavie and Jim Clark robbed the
Black Rock, Arkansas, Bank, and that night went to a point
about fifty miles South of Springfield, Missouri and the follow-
ing morning while at this place, which he would not designate,
he heard on the radio about the Kansas City Affair,
Brady claimed that wilbur°Underhill was with Harvey ~
@ Bailey at the time, nursing Bailey's wounded leg. He said
Bailey and Underhill were near Oklahoma City, - which was as
nearly as he would describe the place,
Brady sdmitted taking Earvey Batley to the Shannon
F: rm neer Paradies on one occasion only, but denied ever going
there to get him. He denied that he knew the purpose of
Bailey be at the Shannon Ferm. He adnitted that Bailey
loaned him $200 of the Urschel ransom money but claims he re-
peid Eel ley with the same money.
Brady seys tint the only dis cussion he ever heard
about the Kansas City Case was to the effect it was done by ©
an "Eastern Gang”.
Clark saye that the Bleck Rock job was pulled by .
Brady, Balley, Davis, Underhill and himself and that the fol-
lowing iorning they were all near Batesville, Arkansas, He
denies ever hearing the Fansas City matter discussed by his
associates. Ee denies knowing anything about the Urschel
ease and denies that he was ever at the Shannon Fam although
he admits reading in the pepers thet hirs. Shannon testified
that he was there. He could offer no explanation as to why
Mrs. Shannon would testify falsely in this respect.
