170 pounds, medium build, hair light brown, and noted no scars or
marks. Ee stated that Wiseman was about 40, 5 feet 7 or & inches
in height, about 160 pounds in weight, heavy build, black hair,
complexion dark, large face, large nose, no scars or marks noted.
During his conversation with these two men he determined that they
were familiar with Charles 4. "Pretty Boy® Floyd ani Wilbur Under-
hill. He, Shelton, cleims to have served a term with the latter
two at the State Penitentiary at Jefferson City, Missourl.
He atated that these two men finally offered to
take him along in their automobile, which was a blue-black Chevrolet
Coach, 1932 or 1935 model, with red wheele and on which was mounted
to spare tires on wheels; that the car also had Missouri license
plates, the numbers of which are unknown to Shelton. He claims
that these individuals also had a set of Illinois, Keneas andi Chic
license plates in their car. He also claims that Miller ad Wise-
man hed considerable counterfeit money in denominations of five,
ten and one hundred dollar bills; thet he went with them accom
panied by two other men; that they left Washington, Missouri, in
the afternoon and drove directly to St. Louis. He atated that he
could not describe the latter two men or recall their names; thet
these two men got cut of the car at St. Louis and went with Miller
and Wiseman to a brick bungalow on Cass Street near the Hamilton
Shoe Factory, which is located near Jefferson and St. Louies Aave-
nues, where Shelton alleges that Miller and Wieeman obtained more
sounterfeit money.
Shelton/was interrogated very closely in an effort
to determine where thetcounterfelt money had been spent but he |
olaims to have no knowledge concerning same and was unable to
advise the disposition of the alleged counterfeit money.
On thiseme day he atates while in st. Louis,
Vern Miller went to a drug store located one block west of the
Statler Hotel. He thinks it is between Sth and 12th Streets. At
St. Louis, Miller purchased a Society Brand suit, size 5?, brown
in color, and also a Hart Gohaffner & Marx suit, size 59, which
was oxford gray; eleo he purchased a pair of gray golf knickers.
Ghelton claims that Miller paid for all the above in genuine money.
‘fe states that on the evening of the same day Miller,
Wiseman and he, Shelton, left St. Houle, ecroseed the bridge into
East St. Iouis, Dlinois, thence to Belleville, Jllinois, where
they purchased gasoline, and when proceeded immediately to Carbon-
dale, Illinois, where they errived at about 9 P. M. spending the
night there with an Italian bootlegger whom he knows only as Tony;
