Further reference is made to letter fran
July 15, 1933, concerning newspaper clippings indicating that Pretty Boy
© Floyd was reported to have recently been seen at Kew Providence, Tennessee.
1933, contacted hr. C. Fr Reed, Selesman for the Kerr Glass Company
Memphis, Tennessee, in that city and at that time lr. Reed stated that on
June 29, 1933, when at the Austin Filling Station at Kew Providence,
Tennessee, he noticed three Liarmon Sedans that were being serviced by
the attendant; that he recognized one of the men in this group as being
Charles Floyd and spoke to him, having known Floyd in Oklehoma. Reed
claims that he asked Floyd what he had in the care and the latter
cleimed that he had some moving picture machines and then took Reed over
to one of the cars when Reed noticed that 1t was equipped with four
water cooled machine guns. Reed further noticed, according to what he
says, Floyd was accampanied by several men who apparently were his body
guards, all of whom were very well dressed. .

and that he knows Floyd very well, and further that he knows Floyd's
mother and helf-brother, elthough until on this particular occasion he .
had not seen Floyd for about a year. Reed, ales, claima that Floyd was.
armed with two pistols, although he had no machine guns in the perticuwler
automobile which he was driving. This eutomobile, he claims, was painted
a dark blue color, as sell ae the two other care, but he did not notice
license plates that any of them bore. He further clains that Floyd was
directing the servicing of the automobiles; that he asked him if he
wanted a bottle of beer, that Floyd refused the beor but did take a
bottle of grape pop - the proprietor of the filling station waiting on
the two of them at that time.
