A. ASH of Chicago, Iilinois be named as his parole advisor. He
notified Mr. ASH of GICE'S request, and by return letter Mr. ASH
advised that he would gladly accept the responsibility of being
parole advisor but wished to advise Mr. YEAGLEY that he was an
attorney. In view of this he desired to be advised whetner or not
the authorities would permit him to accept this responsibility.
ir, YEAGLEY advised that when he tearned of the fact that ASH was

an attorney, he immediately notified the parole office in Jashington,
D. C. and requested them to advise him whether or not they would per
mit ASH to be named as parole advisor. This letter was dated 6-u-/7.
Other correspondence in the file relating to aSH is as follows:
letter from ASH dated 8-19-47 stated that he had not been advised
whether he was to be parole advisor, and that he assumed in the
absence of being notified, that he was turned down in view of his
status as an attorneye
On August 21, Mr. YcAGLEY by letter advised ASH that "At the time of
GICE'S release, the parole plans submitted to the Parole Board indi-
cuting ASi! would act in the capacity of parole advisor had been an~
proved and that it may be for some rcason which developed later." he
‘gsugzested that ASH contact CHARLES W.”)ISHER, Chief Frobation Officer,
U. S. Court House, Chicago, Illinois.
On August 27, Mr. YEAGLEY received a letter from HARKY A. aSH stating
that at the tim of the writing of this letter no communicetion had
been received from FISHER in Chicago informing him that he was to
act in the capacity of a parole advisor to GIGH, and he assumes that
if FISH R wants him to act as parole advisor he will notify t him. He
arain stated no official communication had been received fro: FISHER
nor had the parole plans been discussed with him (A5n).
ir. YEAGLEY furiher advised that on august 8, a teletype was received
from WALTER K. URICH, Parole Executive, Bureau of Frisons, advising tnat
the Board had pranted parole, effective August 13, for CA.FAGMA,
Ds LUCIA and GIOL, and requested approved plans be submitted. YeoACLEY
states that on the same date, August #, he sent a letter to CHARL:S
W. FiSHER, Probation Officer, Chicago, and a copy to Mr. URICH at
Washington of the parole plans and requested parole certificates. Ur.
YeaGLEY advised that on August 11, 1947, he telephoned FISHER in
Chicago to determine if telegraphic approval of parole plan for
Di. LUCIA, GIOh and CAMPAGNA could be obtained in order to effect the
release of these three wen on August 13, as instructed by Er. U.ICn,
