A check of the regords of the U. 5. Panitentiary reiative to PAUL
LE LUCIA, CHAHLESGIOL and LUUIS CA-PAGHa reflects that no detainer
was filed against tnese three subjects. However, a letter appears
in vacn of the files dated Aprii 15, 1944, which was sent to the U. S.
renitentiary at Atlanta, Georgia by BOIS KCSTsLANS TZ, Special
assistant to the Attorney General. Tris l-tter reads: "The case to
which the subjects pliaded not suilty on June -, 194%, censerns an
indictuent charging usc of the mails to defraud and conspiracy soa to
do filed in the Southern District of Mew York on warch 14, 1945. 2.
definite date has not been set for trial of this case. The priscn rs
who are also defendunts in that case are presently out on pal: in the
suin of #50,000.90 each. <Accordinrly, pending the cancellation of
that bond, I cannot causc a warrant to be issued."
I necord Clerk, advised tnat in view of subject's
paroles, e Us. oS. Attorney in the Southern District of Mew York was
not advised of their release.
The Parole Frogress Report in the files of each of the subj.cts,
these reports being dated July, 1947, show under Pending Charges on
230,039.00 bond, South orn District of New Yor«, Mail Fraud and Con-
spliracy.
At Kansas City, Missouri
ii. A. BK. PODE, District Director, Liwaigration and Naturelization
Service, advised tnat he had no file on ClOs or CAUPAGTA, tut that his
records relative to PAUL bu LUCIA re fleet that in 1944 DY LUCIA was
interviewed by a representative of his office on citizensnip, ana it
was subsequently ascertaineu torcugh the Atianta Office of the
I & NS that citizenship had been verified by the Atlanta Office.
At Leavenworth, Kansas
Wr. D. L. YEAGLEY, Parole Officer, U. 5. Penitentiary, advised that
from the file it appeared that CHAXL.S GIOE had requested that HahkY
