During the course of the interview with ROKK he indiceted a profit
in dealing with the UH and advieed that thie was the general feeling
emong all cosl operators. Hs considered the break in the Ui ranks
of 1932 es promoted by radicele and agitators within the UMN who hed
simply seized thet opportunity to further their own politiosl espiretions.
He was well awere thet the Frogressives elected their orn officers but
steted that this did not always work to the best intereste in negotie~
tions and relationshipe. The men who wers elected to office were
sometimes incompetent. He felt that the system under JOHN L. LEWIS
was perheps better whereby e man with LE"IS' experience sould appoint
qualified lebor lendors to hendle the various disputes and negotiate
the various contrects. He stated that the UMT secmed to heve better
success in keeping their members in line and making them comply with
the torms of the contracts which were negotiated.
