"as far as I know there were no strikes, closedowns or any partiality shown toward either union Uy the mine officials and everything went along smoothly until the strike in 193% I attended wmion meetings of P.U.a. about once a month but took no active part in the discussions. "T was working as a ‘cagert at the mine and therefore I did not contact many men and I was not approached by anyone to join U.M.". In the job I was doing I had to be down in the mine about and hour before the rest of the men and I had to stay until alT of them were out at might.
