over this and we all thought thet P.M.A. would got ao
continucd) contract, I did not go to and dont remember any meeting
the night before the mine closed down. I worked the last
day tho mine operated and went home that night, tho noxt day I went to go
to work and some of the men met me on the road and told mo the mine was not
goinz to operatc. I did not know there had boon any trouble until thon.
I heard thit the strike was called because someone over in the Mine office
enid if wc did not go over to U.M.7. the mino was not going to operate. On
the lost day the minc worked I hoard something about cars being loaded
short, but nobody said anything to me and I did not load any cars that way.
I was working in Box® at that time. Aftcr the mince closed I helped
picket the minc 2 couple of days, I signed a petition on the road by tho
minc, no one mde me sign and it wes just to show I was for the P.M.A. I
I heard tho U.M.W,. had a petition but I dont know anything else about it. I
als> heard ubout the U.M.W. forming a new focal, I heard this from tho mon
and nlso from the papers. No one contacted me to join this union. J know
af no other troubles happening this surmer 1957,
"Tl romember the sit-down strike at Mine "B", I went out to it for
about 3 weeks and then got sick. J was not thero the first day tho strike
stcrtcd. I went out because the other men men did no one told me to go.
There wes no trouble, we were thore to protcet our Job and gaurd the
property. There wore no outsiders brought in, just local 54 men. I was not
there when tha U. &, Marshall camc and chased the men out.
".fter the sit-down strike I only went to mince "B" once that was
to got a slip showing my cxponscs while working there, this was for income
tax purposes. .
"T voted at the first H.L.R.B. election, I voted the way I wanted
and ne onc told mc how to vote, I voted P.M.A. I saw some U.M.\. mon there
but they did not bother me or Zive me anything. I guoss they just wont there
to vote. I went direct to the Armory from my home,
"I dont know why Flshoff would not sign a contract with P.U,A. after
they won the oJection, I heard something about somo minc B men and Falsetti
being over at the Jefferson Mine but I dont know anything about it.
"hen the mine reopened in Sopt, 1939, I got a lottor telling me
to come back, I vas working at Taylor Mine #12 and did not go back as I did
not like the way things were thorce J om still o membor of FMA. I did
not votc in the énd N.L.R.B. clection,
