I was at the mine about 10 or 12 days during the strike, we were there to protect the mine and our jobs. I never saw anyone there but local 54 members. I went out there of my own free will. "I know that some of the men from Mine “B“ were working at the Jefferson mine in 1938. I don't know who they were though. TI went out on a Monday and went right to work. I understood that we were to get Union wages and I was paid Union wages. I psid dues to P.M.A. for some time after going back to work, After I went back to work for a while I quite psying ducs to P.M.A. end made up my mind to join UlMone T stopped paying dues to P.M.A. because I did not like the way they were handling death benefits. "I joined U.M.7.. of my own free will nobody forced me in any way. I think this was after the end N.LR.B, election. "T don't recall signing any cards for cither U.M.i. or P.M.A. tho summer of 1940. of "T wote in + a VOved in tv 3 cti of my own free will the way IT wented to. Thi ballot and was entirely honest so far as I know. "There were some falls and slate in the mine when it re-opened but they got, coal out of one seotion of it in about 3 days. I ikmow nothing about mny fire at Mine “B" in 1939. I was not at the meeting at which = 323 <
